Yoga Teacher Training

200 Hour YTT

Our training is hosted in a small community in breathtaking McCaysville, GA in our working family orchard. We are approved by the Yoga Alliance teacher training course.

Encompassed in nine life-changing weekend sessions, students will immerse themselves in the deeper aspects of yoga to begin exploring their own personal practice and how to apply those teachings beyond the mat. This 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and Certification Course combines both Yoga and its sister science of Ayurveda. We’ll dig beyond the surface and dive deeply into practices that nourish your personal experience of yoga to provide a great foundation for seekers to begin their practice of Hatha yoga.    Our Team is excited to bring together a tribe of people seeking to grow spiritually, mentally, and physically stronger and here exists a safe space for you to be nurtured and supported in your personal yoga journey.  The 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Folk is designed and executed to suit the requirements of seekers who have just begun the practice of yoga as well as seekers who have been practicing for a while.

Students will explore and create a strong foundation of knowledge covering asana, pranayama, meditation, Ayurveda, and yoga philosophy.  Delving into Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra's you will learn how to apply them to your life experiences.

Our goals when you complete this training are for you to:

Learn how to work as a yoga teacher in different settings

Discover how to create and sequence-unique classes

Guide you to find confidence in your ability to teach authentically

Explore what a personal practice looks like in your life.

We will keep our training small in order to provide personal attention to each student in the program. We will limit the training to no more than 20 people in order to build and maintain bonding relationships.

The Journey

We want to help you find growth in the understanding of what yoga is beyond your mat practice, so in this training we will look at the body then begin to dive deeper in the understanding of our body and its conditioning throughout your personal journey called life. These are just a few of the aspects we explore in this training.

 Anatomy & Physiology

We will study human anatomy and how the body works within yoga poses, how to make modifications and how to assist clients in these poses. We will gain a greater understanding of how muscles and joints work together and to look at the differences between a "tight" muscle and a joint limitation. We will discuss the why’s and how’s of yoga postures.

Techniques, Training & Practice

We will study in-depth posture focus using multiple techniques such as: demonstrating the yoga pose, adding verbal cues, talking about modification options, for different variations, showing hands-on assists. We will then allow students ample time for practice with hands-on training.

Yoga Philosophy

We will look at the layers of the subtle bodies of yoga. Exploring the chakra system and how they relate to our lives and the choices we make. You will gain greater knowledge in understanding the role each chakra plays and how it correlates to the other chakras. We will then learn how we can use Asana, pranayama, meditation and the sister science of Ayurveda to help bring your chakras into balance. We will also study the yoga sutras of Patanjali, looking at what the 8 limbs of yoga are and how they apply to your practice in order to help grow and expand your life. The sutras are about learning to create balance and equanimity, to find peace in your life and harmony with the greater whole. The art of right living has been practiced in India for thousands of years and the foundations of yoga philosophy were written down in the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali. This sacred text details the inner workings of the mind and provides a guide for controlling its restlessness so as to enjoy lasting peace. We will keep our training small in order to provide personal attention to each student in the program. We will limit the training to no more than 20 people in order to build and maintain bonding relationships.

Training Testimonials

  • Yoga Folk owner Amanda Dillbeck and co-host April Belle created an excellent class preparing me for teaching yoga safely. The class was thorough and thought provoking!

Kathleen Sinkule

  • Yoga Folk offered an extremely well-rounded training that was accessible to anyone. I felt confident in the instructor's knowledge and expertise of the eight limbs of yoga, and she did a wonderful job of talking through the eight limbs. I loved how she encouraged discussion and really got our group engaged in conversation. We did a lot of work on poses and linking anatomy to those poses. She challenged us cue poses early on, and we got to see our confidence and knowledge grow as we cued more and more poses and did a finale class at the end. There was some flexibility in our studies but also expectations. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!
